ROUTES

Suggested Routes From Festival Park

Caldon & Leek Canal
43 Miles, 34 Locks, 1 Week Cruise

An easy week down on one of the most beautiful and quiet canals of them all.
Four Counties & Cheshire Rings
2 Week Cruises

A “Ring” is often a more attractive proposition for boaters than the route that brings you back along the same waterway. However, to fully enjoy this cruising experience, please allow yourself more time.
Macclesfield Canal
38 Miles, 13 Locks, 1 Week Cruise

An easy week travelling into the Peak District along The Macclesfield canal, runs from Kidsgrove to Marple then joining onto the Peak Forest Canal where you will turn at Whaley Bridge.
Peak Forest Canal
1 Week Cruise

Those wishing to venture a bit further before returning down “the Macc” may wish to cruise the short but fascinating upper Peak Forest Canal.
The Middlewich Branch

It was the Chester Canal Company’s ambition, realised by that man again, Thomas Telford, that enabled the Middlewich Branch to be opened in 1833 and finally provide the missing link of the “Ring” that we all love to cruise today.
The Staffs & Worcester Canal

The Staffs & Worcester is one of James Brindley’s famous “contour canals”, the simplest principal in 1772 (at the time the Canal was built) being to follow the contours of the land to avoid the costly and often dangerous building of aqueductsand tunnels.
Trent & Mersey Canal

The canal that runs so conveniently past our Festival Park Marina base, so called because it will ultimately take you to the River Trent in the south and the River Mersey in the north, was the most ambitious of all canal pioneer James Brindley’s plans.

Suggested Routes From Chirk

Llangollen Canal
57 Miles, 4 Locks, 1 Week Cruise

A very pleasant and easy route. Traveling first to Llangollen you cross the famous Pontcysyllte Aqueduct 120 feet above the River Dee. After this the canal perches on the side of the lovely Dee Valley up to Llangollen itself.
Montgomery Canal
6 Miles

This really is a totally different canal from the Llangollen and, to cruise its length, is akin to turning off the motorway and taking to the country lanes instead.
Shropshire Union Canal
2 Week Cruise

Travel down the Llangollen Canal and onto the Shropshire Union, a meandering canal that winds its way through pretty countryside and small villages.
